From October, Peira and Philips intend to work intensively together on the Open Manufacturing Campus (OMC) situated on the Philips sites in Turnhout. Among other things, Peira will put an advanced in-vivo measuring device into production that will be used in cancer research; both partners will be swapping know-how and resources in the process. The OMC in Turnhout was created based on the vision of giving production-related companies the chance to evolve in an open collaboration model. Philips is bringing in its many years of production expertise and Peira is making its specific system integration, application know-how, design and Open Innovation experience available. The aim is to reshape the OMC Turnhout into a Factory of the Future and by doing so anchor advanced production technology and the associated competencies in the region for the long term. read more
The construction of the second phase of the biotechnology cluster at the Arenberg Science Park is almost complete. K.U.Leuven, AVEVE, the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) and Life Sciences Research Partners (LSRP) are building a second Bio-incubator with the support of the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF).
