Panama Green Fuels, a company with ambitions to develop green fuel projects in Panama in close collaboration with the Panama government, has agreed to become a member of the Jatropha curcas knowledge platforms of QUINVITA. Both parties maintained an option to develop their relationship for Panama based development of Jatropha plantations on a mutually exclusive basis.
QUINVITA is one of the global market leaders in the science and development of Jatropha curcas as a sustainable bio‐energy crop. Over the years it has developed a unique knowledge base in Jatropha genetics, agronomy and processing and is one of the few companies in the world with a combination of seeds, technology and knowledge that is readily available for practical implementation in Jatropha plantations.
Panama Green Fuels has a unique opportunity to invest in a bio‐diesel feed source plantation in Panama. It is working with the Panamanian National Government and local experts to create long‐term, high quality rural employment and to reduce national fuel importation dependency, whilst providing secure attractive long‐term returns for environmentally and socially conscious investors.
“This is an important key step in the further development of our Jatropha business plan for Panama" said Adrian Harvey, Chief Executive Officer of Panama Green Fuels. "In our agricultural infrastructure investment project, the access to the QUINVITA Pro highly performing cultivars and its agronomy expertise in Jatropha curcas is essential for the successful roll out of our plans".
‘’QUINVITA has identified together with Panama Green Fuels significant surfaces of Panama that are very suitable for the cultivation of Jatropha. The fact that both companies have opted for an exclusive relationship confirms our mutual conviction that we are complementary parties to execute these plans successfully” said Henk Joos, Chief Executive Officer of QUINVITA.
