Fuelstock, the leading Renewable Energy Company in Madagascar, has agreed to become a member of the QUINVITA knowledge platforms on improved agronomy and genetics of Jatropha curcas.
QUINVITA is one of the global market leaders in the science and development of Jatropha curcas as a sustainable bio-energy crop. Over the years it has developed a unique knowledge base in Jatropha genetics, agronomy and processing and is one of the few companies in the world with a combination of seeds, technology and knowledge that is readily available for practical implementation in Jatropha plantations.
Fuelstock is a bio-diverse company that is focusing on an integrated agricultural model producing food and fuel crops. It grows Jatropha as a renewable energy source, alongside with chili, corn and indigo as cash crops. Fuelstock is now developing an oil refinery in conjunction with leading oil refiners in
North Madagascar. The Jatropha seeds are crushed into pure vegetable oil to provide substitute fuel for the fishing trawlers. Fuelstock has been approached to provide Jatropha oil for the entire fleet of the local fishing industry – pivotal to the local economy. Over time, Fuelstock has the ambition to become one of the leading regional and even global producers of Jatropha feedstock.
“Accessing the QUINVITA know-how and products is an important key step in the further development of our Jatropha business plan for Madagascar", said Peter Hanratty, Chief Executive Officer of Fuelstock. "In our integrated agricultural investment project, the access to the QUINVITA Pro highly performing cultivars and its agronomy expertise in Jatropha curcas is essential for the successful rollout of our plans."
‘’QUINVITA is proud to add Fuelstock to its growing list of customers. The Fuelstock project is the 10th QUINVITA enabled Jatropha project in the world. It is a further confirmation of the QUINVITA business model with solid foundations in science and realism. We are very impressed with the balanced business model Fuelstock is implementing. It is completely in line with the ‘’world in balance’’ endeavour QUINVITA has identified as one of its key business objectives”, said Henk Joos, Chief Executive Officer of QUINVITA.
