Dat is een auto-immuunziekte die gepaard gaat met pijnlijke ontstekingsreacties in de gewrichten. Het onderliggende moleculaire mechanisme van de ziekte is nog verre van opgehelderd. In een studie in het vakblad Nature Genetics beschrijven de onderzoekers nu dat een fout in de expressie van de A20-gen (TNFAIP3) kan bijdragen tot het ontstaan van reumatoïde artritis bij muizen. De wetenschappers nemen aan dat A20 een belangrijk doelwit is voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe geneesmiddelen. read more
