The Vrije Universiteit Brussel is a dynamic university with two parkland campuses in the Brussels Capital Region: the main campus in Etterbeek and the medical campus in Jette (situated closely to the University Hospital UZ Brussel). Our centers of excellence in life sciences mainly focus on fertility, diabetes, molecular biology, industrial microbiology and food biotechnology, immunology and physiology, toxicology, dermato-cosmetology and pharmacognosy, and medical imaging.
High quality education and research are central issues at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel is also the largest Dutch-speaking employer in the Brussels Region.
We offer a quality education to more than 9000 students. Add to that the almost 4500 students of our partner, the Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels; the 400 students at the English-speaking Vesalius College; the 5000 students at the Centre for Adult Education that shares our campus, and the more than 150 research teams working on both our campuses, and you get one of the biggest centres of knowledge in the capital of Europe. Our research teams are internationally recognised in many disciplins of fundamental and applied research. Thanks to this expertise and its strategic location, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is your ideal partner for prestigious research and education with an outlook on Europe and the world.
The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is the co-ordinating university of the University Association Brussels (UAB), which consists of a strategic alliance between the VUB, The Brussels University Hospital (UZ Brussel) and the colleges of the Erasmushogeschool Brussel (EhB) as key partners. It is our ambition to play an increasingly prominent role in attracting and instigating new economic activity at and around our campuses in the Brussels Capital Region and in the Flanders Region. Interdisciplinary research as well as collaboration between institutes, knowledge centres, industrial and academic partners is very much encouraged and considered to be crucial to obtain sustainable results.
Knowledge, Innovation & Technology Transfer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The Technology Transfer Interface (TTI) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel bridges the gap between the industry and the university's research and expertise.
The TTI provides a wide range of support, advice and mentoring services, identifying research projects with economic potential and supporting spin-off projects of the university.
As a link between the university and industry, the TTI guides researchers through every stage of their collaboration with industry. On the other hand the TTI brings companies seeking research collaboration, in contact with the appropriate research team(s) at the university.
The Technology Transfer Interface is a multidisciplinary team that handles Intellectual Property rights (IPR) management, technology evaluation and transfer, spin-off creation and contract negotiations. Legal support is provided in contract research, licensing and intellectual property issues.
