The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry. Just like last year, FlandersBio and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) will join forces for the Flemish representation at the convention, that will take place from 27-30 June 2011 in Washington, US.
During the same period, a delegation with Prince Filip will visit the United States. The biotech sector is one of the target sectors of this mission with - a.o. - a visit to the Bio Convention. What is the BIO International Convention?
The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry (about 15 000 visitors each year, 1/3 from outside the US) featuring
- Keynotes and sessions from key policymakers, scientists, CEOs, and celebrities
- The BIO Business Forum (One-on-One Partnering)
- Hundreds of sessions covering biotech trends, policy issues and technological innovations
- The world's largest biotechnology exhibition (Belgium was present with a dedicated Pavilion)
We are proud to announce that one of the sessions FlandersBio submitted for the official Bio US programme, was selected by the programme committee. Tigenix, Shire-Movetis nv and Amgen will present on Getting approval for drugs in an ever increasing risk averse World.

What is the cost for participation?
The cost for enjoying the services described above is 250 EUR (per company)*
* Beneath you can find an overview of the costs that are not included but for which your company can ask subsidies at Flanders Investment & Trade.
- Your BIO Registration Package
These are the 3 main Registration Packages at BIO:
- Full Convention Access including participation to BIO’s Partnering Event - Cost = $2,195 ** - this is the package we strongly advise because it gives you the opportunity to access an online partnering tool and to make appointments for one-to-one meetings at Bio US.
IMPORTANT REMARK: you can ask subsidies at FIT for the participation to BIO’s Partnering Event.

- Full Convention Access - Cost = $1,695** - if you choose this package you do NOT have access to the partnering
- Education Access - Cost = $995** - if you choose this package you do NOT have access to the partnering
- Exhibition Access - Cost = free if you join FIT and FlandersBio - if you choose this package you do NOT have access to the partnering and you cannot attend the lectures
