The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry. Just like last year, FlandersBio and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) joined forces for the Flemish representation in the Belgian Pavilion at the convention.

What is the BIO International Convention?

The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry (about 15 000 visitors each year, 1/3 from outside the US) featuring

Keynotes and sessions from key policymakers, scientists, CEOs, and celebrities
The BIO Business Forum (One-on-One Partnering)
Hundreds of sessions covering biotech trends, policy issues and technological innovations
The world's largest biotechnology exhibition (Belgium was present with a dedicated Pavilion)

The BIO International Convention took place this year from 3-6 May 2010 in Chicago, US.

Flemish companies at BIO US

The following Flemish organisations joined FlandersBio and FIT to the US:

The Belgian Pavilion

Flanders, Brussels and the Walloon region shared 200 m² exhibition space at the Belgian Pavilion in BIO's exhibition hall. The Flemish side focused on Flanders' strenghts to attract investments to the region. Most of the Flemish companies also participated in the one-to-one partnering meetings, which still proves to be a successful formulae.

Belgian Breakfast

The first day of the exhibition started with the third edition of the Belgian Breakfast, with keynote talks from BAXTER and Amgen. We welcomed some 200 participants to this meeting.

Flemish dinner

Just like last year, we organised a Flemish dinner, sponsored by Flanders Investment & Trade, the ideal way for Flemish companies to meet and to network.

Belgian Café

This social networking event with live music, free Belgian beers and French fries was again a great succes. About 750 visitors passed by at the famous Chicago bar Buddy Guy's Legends.
