FlandersBio organises events that provide opportunities for networking and tapping into the knowledge and expertise of all the life sciences companies. We also keep you informed about other interesting life sciences events. You can also send us your life sciences event.
On June 23, IWT, in co-operation with CINBIOS and NCP Wallonie, organises a partnering event on waste reduction, waste processing and sidestream valorisation. The major objective of the partnering event is the development of European R&D projects in this broad research field.
Eligible projects aim to deliver and develop technologies leading to a drastic reduction and better management of large scale production of wastes (industrial, municipal, agricultural …), or a better valorisation of materials, chemicals, nutrients and energy in wastes and industrial sidestreams. These issues address a variety of expertise going from photonic and manufacturing techniques (sorting, recycling …), data management, recycling, water and waste treatment, biorefinery concepts, biotechnological approaches etc.
Technological approaches in the valorisation of sidestreams integrate fractionation, separation and conversion processes and equipment to isolate and re-use valuable components –chemical entities and/or materials- present in industrial side streams and wastes, leading to e.g. fuels, power, heat, and value-added chemicals from e.g. biomass.
In 2010 and 2011, several European programmes will offer opportunities to fund collaborative projects on these topis: Framework Programme 7 (Cooperation theme Environment, Cooperation theme KBBE, Cooperation theme NMP…), Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (Eco-innovation), EUREKA, Eurostars and various ERA-Nets.
The meeting is an “on invitation only” event.
Please contact Willem Dhooge, Project Manager Industrial Biotechnology at FlandersBio, or Sofie Dobbelaere, Technological advisor at Ghent Bio-Energy Valley, regarding this event.
